The Sixth Sense

1. M. Night Shyamalan, the core of the movie "The Sixth Sense", was the director, scriptwriter and co-actor for this film. Despite of this film, he was also the director and producer for many other well known movie, such as "Praying with anger" (1992), "Unbreakable"(2000), "The village" (2004", "The Last Airbender" (2010) and the latest "After Earth" (2013). He is an Indian screenwriter, director and producer with well known his supernatural plot and mostly filming and setting around Philadelphia, where he was raised.

With this film, he won a great known wide across the world when "The Sixth Sense" was nominated for six Academy Awards including the Best Director and the Best Original Screenplay.

2. The Sixth Sense was starting with the children psychologists Malcom Crowe was visited by his ex-patient, Vincent at one night when Vincent shot Malcom and then committed suicide. Malcom life's change since the accident. He barely talk to his beloved wife and he felt so guilty because he fail Vincent. When he met a little boy, Cole, who was so alike Vincent, he make Malcom feel so want to help in. He perhaps helping Cole will varnish his guilty for Vincent. As he is getting closer and closer to Cole, he was so upset because this boy having the same symptons is beyond his ability to helps. But then Cole has trusted Malcom after everything they been through, he confessed himself to Malcom and only now Malcom believed what had happen to both Cole and Vincent. With his all force he helps Cole to figure out and face his "ability", and he did it! Cole was then being more comfortable with his sixth sense and started to live with it well. But when Malcom back to home and realize that his death, he finally understand why everything bizard was happening to him and the reason he met with Cole. He was then feeling relief and say goodbye to his wife in her dream.

3. The Sixth Sense is not a horror movie. Despite, it was a very sentimental and warm heart film with all the chronology and the twist ending. M Night Shyamalan was trying to show how love and passion can lead to such impossibility. As simple as love, he show it between Malcom and his wife. His wife can't forget of him even he was dead, leaving her behind and a new guys come out to chase after her. And she never feel Malcom have leaved her, by celebrating their wedding anniversary after Malcom death. She willing to help and support Malcom when he was still working on his career and be proud of him.

  

 

And of course it could be a family love. How Cole tried to protect his mum and how his mum so trust him. When everyone is backstabbing Cole, his mum still believing him and never give up to help him. And when he try to tell his mum the truth about him, she despite hard to believe all the supernatural thing that Cole spoke, but she is still convincing Cole to believe her love to him. As a proof, Cole tell mum about what his grandma was trying to tell his mum, and this show how strong a family love is, showing the elderly and the youngster in the family was so connected.

 

 

4. And M. Night Shyamalam was trying to show how desperate a pure kids could be when he was facing a problem which everyone else is hard to help and  believe him. Hard for us to classifies this movie as horror film because all these horror scene is to show the dilemma and problem faced by a kids and how a passionate and child experts was so wanted to help this kids. And the passion show by Malcom to his expertise was not because of fame, but his responsibility and a warm heart for all these kids, willingness to help them by all his will. When Cole is a child role, it show how desperate and self depression is hard for the role. Because if the role was a mature adult, he/she might can deal with the extraordinary gifts easier. So Cole need to seek for adult helps, such as Malcom who willing to trust him

 

 But with the character of Malcom, M. Night Shyamalam also show how hard to express ourselves sometime. Even though we as adults are more rational and matured, but it is hard to put our ego away and started to discuss. So Malcom treated Cole as friend and tell him all his problem in his marriage. Even Cole cant give him a solution, but it is better can at least he can feel more relief and some one to complaint. 

 

And one more character that i like most about this movie was the ghosts. It was quite scary at first, because they keep coming out so suddenly. And they hurt Cole sometime when they are excited. But they are seeking for helps. Some of them asking helps for their family, some of them just need some one to understand them. They mean not to harm but need help indeed. It show how humans was so stubborn and can't let thing go when they already left the world. M. Night Shyamalam tell us that if some day we are dead, we might probably be one of these ghost, when you can't left go of something you own when still alive. Nothing about religious but purely is mankind nature instincts. 

 

And Cole say: " they din't see each other, they only see what they want to see". Hmmm~ wondering if M. Night Shyamalam was trying to tell us that this movie was so scary at the first place because our perspective to something we dont know. And human nature instinct again, the first thing we will do to face such problem is believe in ourselves, and thought all ghost is scary and harmful, and probably wanted to grab our life. But when Malcom and Cole figure out that most of the spirits was only seeking for helps with the only ways they could afford, they are not so scary actually.

  

5. The twist of the storyline from science fiction, miserable mystery, and kids in trouble is trying to grab the attention of the audiences. When we all thought it would be another horror movie, with all the horror movie style background music and sudden supernatural scene, it then switch to something more interesting. Shyamalam bring us to the story of a kids issolated from the world and a kind man that so wanted to help him. And how all the truth is unveiled and they found the solution for Cole's problem. End up Cole could finally face his mother and tell her truth. When we all think it was the end of the story, perhaps some audiences will leave their seats because all climates already there. But Shyamalam add on a scene to explain what was really happen to Malcom. He end up figure the truth and willing to accept it by saying goodbye. It was a touching story and at it ends, screenwriters show how the spirits could end up willing to give all the thing behind and leave the world peacefully. Human or we say spirits is not as stubborn as we thought, the twisted ending show us these.

Week 3 Director Journal

Pada minggu ini, kami dikehendaki untuk menyediakan presentation produksi kita. Dan secara rasminya,produksi kita akan dinamakan sebagai 'Cake Pop'. Meskipun terdapat beberapa pelajar yang menggugurkan kursus ini,namum kita mendapat beberapa rakan baru juga dalam pasukan produksi kita,ketiga-tiga mereka adalah pelajar Fakulti Undang-undang. 

  Dan presentation minggu ini,saya dikehendaki untuk menyediakan bahagian props. Jadual terkini untuk peralatan produksi ialah Cake Pop,Bonquet Ros, Belon Helium,Ipad,Ukulele,Teddy Bear,Aiskrim, Skate Roller, Costum untuk pelakon wanita dan pelakon budak lelaki.

  Dan seperti yabg diberitahu,lokasi pengambaran kita ialah Melaka. Tempoh pengambaran adalah semasa minggu sembreak. Namun,kita akan adanya satu rehearsel shooting pada 28 March,iaitu 2 hari selepas FESENI. T_T owh no~ sudah tentunya saya akan sibuk mati pada masa itu.

Kill Bill

 

It shocked me when the first scene shown was a lady lay on the ground with bruises and blood all over her face. And we can hear there is someone walking nearer and nearer and nearer. It sound like a horror movie for me, or some extreme documentary home violence one. And when the shoes sound stop, and Bill start to talk, we can know that the girl is having a baby, she claim the baby was belong to Bill, the man who might the one hurts her so bad. And i notice she was laying on some soft chiffon. Why would he put her on a soft chiffon and beat her up so bad? Are she still pregnant or just give birth? But out of sudden, our attention was caught by the gun shoot and "poop!" to next scene.

Then the titles of the movie shown. It call "Kill Bill", so i guess it was a story about the girl revenge on Bill killing her baby? She was then drive to a normal house with a pinkish pickup track. She really make me curious of her personality. But end up we know by the next few scene, the car was stolen from hospital nurse.

And in the house, she insist not to kill a mother in front of her daughter and she said it is not because of her rationality, but sympathy and emotionally control. End up she got herself an apologize and she wanted to walk away from the house before being attacked and killed the mother.

 

Then we know who she is. She was a bride in her wedding when attacked by her other assassins colleagues at her white wedding gown. That is how the whole story of revenge started. The mother that she killed was one of the assassins who took the other 9 people life in that massacre including her broom and baby she was carrying. They punch her and put a bullet at her head, but that bullet dint kill her but put her in coma for 4 years.

 

When we was wondering the timing and scene was so confusing because all the plot is not in sequence, the scene jump once again to hospital, where she was laying and this hot chick came out trying to kill her. But from her we realize that "the bride" was also once of them, the assassins under the leader name Bill. So "Kill Bill" doesn't mean she is revenging a guy, but a assassins group under Bill, where she were once one of them too. But she got survive as they let her go, said kill her with the bullet and the thing they do to her is enough.

 

 So when she woke up the first thing she think of is revenge. And once again the plot jump to the first target of her, O-nei Isshi, played by Lucy Liu. And with her, Sofie Fatale, they are the 1st on her revenge list. And their fight with all the body guards and in the backyard of Japanese house was stunning. But i perhaps feels it was trying to show some Hong Kong martial art action movie in his own way. And they even put a real Hong Kong Action Stars, Liu Chia Hui in the movie and that the best part. But disappointing me, his character dint really have the real scene in action to fight the Bride. But it show her mercy as well as she dint kill every of them,but chop off some limbs and leave the alive.

But we can feel that the director was trying to include some different element in the movie, as previously he had us some violence massacre and revenge for the storyline. Action scene when she was fighting with the mother, and her toughness when she tried to hypnosis her own legs (kinda funny) and cure her legs. And in the movie, we found it crazy because the director put a scene of anime for the origin of O'ren Ishii. It make me feel it was a low budget movie at first, but end up im feeling excited to watch it and begin to understand the director is trying to show different elements and ways of shooting in this product. Cant wait for the next Epi!!

 

Forrest Gumps ^O^

Forrest Gump, a movie and a story about a little kids with a Below-average intelligents but how his life was so inspiring people, especially the Americans.
  The story begins with Tom Hanks sitting on a bench waiting for bus. He met some strangers and he start to tell them story of his life.

When he was young, he was diagnose to have a lower IQ than normal kids. For instance, he believe that hardwork could bring him success without any doubt, even tough he faced problem and obstacles in his life. End up he was a successful and well-known footballer even the coach called him "just a local fool".

Then he join the military and save life while the war. He was so brave and rescue the team feeling fearless which end up won him a Medal of Honour from Presidents as appreciating his courage at the Vietnam War.

 

It is quite hard to believe such miscellaneous life would really happen, especially nowadays people are living with more individualism and materialism. He some how inspires us, not to admire him, but stop being corward and start to believe in ourselves.
